Geographic scheduling ensures PNMs are placed in parties efficiently, minimizing excessive travel. You will need to send a list of chapters in the order you’d like them prioritized for scheduling. The system attempts to avoid scheduling consecutive parties for chapters that are too far apart, such as the first and last chapters on your list.
One limitation of geographic scheduling is that it can require significant manual edits. The system first prioritizes even distribution, then places PNMs according to your geographic scheduling list, and finally works to avoid conflicts (if entered). Additionally, all party times must remain checked for geographic scheduling to function correctly
How do I use the Geographic scheduling feature in ICS?
- Send ICS a list of chapters in order of travel from first to last.
- Once your Geo Scheduling is confirmed, you are ready to run Geo Scheduling for any round except the first round and bid day.
Steps to use Geo Scheduling one set up in ICS:
- Make sure Priority Preference is run.
- Select the round & Run Schedule for Daily rounds.
- View your Distribution.
- Select Round in Geographic Schedule screen.
- Click Process.
- You can view your distribution in this screen.
- If needed, you can edit PNM schedules to even out your distribution.
Remember, the system has a job to do in this order:
- Geographic Schedule based on your chapter list.
- Distribute equally.
- Schedule around conflicts and attempt to manage PNMs schedules to avoid party times scheduled too far apart.
To Reset the Geographic Schedule, Run Schedule for Daily Rounds again.
