Set Up Multi-Factor Authentication In ICS (How-to)

In today's digital world, keeping your online accounts safe is more important than ever. One of the best ways to protect your information is by using Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA). But what is MFA?

Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) is a simple yet powerful security feature that adds an extra step when you log into your account. In addition to entering your password, you'll also need to provide a second piece of information via an authenticator app.

Before You Begin

MFA is currently optional for all ICS users; however, starting April 1, 2025, MFA will be required for all Council Admin Users. The steps outlined below explain how all ICS users (council administration, council, chapter, PNM, or recruit counselor) can set up Multi-Factor Authentication.

After April 1st, Council Admin Users will automatically be prompted to set up MFA upon attempting to log into their account.

How To Set Up MFA

1. Log into ICS
2. Select the Grid
   • 
3. Choose the User Shield Icon 
   • 
4. Click Account Security 
5. Select Multi-Factor Authentication
   • 
6. Click Verify Email
7. Enter the Code sent to your email and click Complete Setup
   • 
8. Click +Add to add an Authenticator App
9. Download one of the listed Authenticator Apps if you do not already have one of the ones listed
   • 
10. Scan the QR Code
    • 
11. Enter the One-Time Code from your app
12. Enter a Device Name
13. Click Submit
